With only four initial responders on scene, an unconscious victim, and a foot tangled in an auger below the surface, this rural volunteer team executed a life-saving response, marking the only successful grain bin rescue in Minnesota that year.

Nate Firle, born and raised in rural Minnesota, is a farmer, entrepreneur, and Captain with the Gibbon Fire & Rescue Department, where he has served for eight years.

Following the successful 2019 grain bin rescue, Nate envisioned a specialized trailer unit equipped with essential tools and a mounted Grain Rescue Vac. That idea led to the first-of-its-kind Rural Rescue Response apparatus, delivered to the Gibbon Fire Department in 2023. Building on that success, Nate officially launched R3 Rescue, LLC in December 2025 to provide rural fire departments nationwide with the equipment and confidence needed for complex agricultural emergencies.

Nate resides in rural Gibbon, MN, with his wife and young son, balancing his time between farming and traveling with R3.
