Navigating the Frontlines of Hazmat with Beth McCormick
Environmental Project Manager at Valley EnvironmentÂ
President of the Wisconsin Association of Hazardous Materials (WAHMR)
Beth McCormick is the President of the Wisconsin Association of Hazardous Materials Responders (WAHMR), a professional organization dedicated to coordinating the voice of hazmat responders across the state.
Beth serves as an Environmental Project Manager at Valley Environmental Response in Neenah, Wisconsin. She has extensive experience in managing 24/7 emergency spill responses, site remediation, and waste disposal.
Her work focuses on the full lifecycle of a spill, from containment and cleanup to state/federal regulatory reporting and restoring environments to "pre-spill" conditions. She has notable experience dealing with complex receptors, such as spills near potable water sources or in active waterways.
What happens when 6,000 gallons of gasoline vanish into a river, or a common garage spill leads to a house demolition? Dan sits down with Beth as she shares her experiences responding to HAZMAT cleanup operations. We dive deep into the legalities of spill ownership, the "stick test" for identifying bio-sheens, and why a wax toilet ring might be the most important tool in your kit.
